For the sake of myself being remembered by my short-term memory I write lines--overly non-sensical lines of random thoughts burning with pessimism, nauseous hopelessness, spoofable reflections, gibberish rants and sometimes retracting suicidal grains of food cravings, insane cursings... I don't write to be appreciated. My fiction deserves no attention. I type blank-spaced blahs of words, similar to forgetful lines if ever you are reading these words, forgive yourself on why the heck you've thought of browsing this page. You might feel depressed as I ponder my thoughts on my life... so you better exit now and save yourself from insanity. Bow.

Sheethead Queen
This is a blog written by the queen of Sheetheads. Wondering what that word means? Sheethead is a clay mineral powder which is used to absorb oil and grease from non-washable fabrics. Or maybe it means a head full of bright semi-shitty crappy ideas. Or maybe Sheethead doesn’t mean anything.

This blog is full-heartedly dedicated to Smokey’s hotdog, isaw, hematophobics, Master Splinter of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to people strangled by the Sheethead, to anti-posers, to the late Luis Taruc and other Pinoy liberalists and nationalists, to the Visayan nephew, to paranoid loving parents, to siblings and relatives, to Christian Bautista, to Iranians, to Quentin Tarantino, to UAAP fans who’ve mistaken this blog as their idols’ fan site, to the wondrous sights of the Philippines and of course, to YOU! YIHEE!

A Wrong God?

Sometimes we, Catholics, tend to be silly. We act as if God is a vending machine God, a genie God, a magician God, a strict God or a punishing God… Whatever happens, we say, there is a God! God will provide us all.

We deem God as if He is a vendo. We go to Church because we want something. We’d light every candle there is in Quiapo or St. Jude or Baclaran or wherever God especially resides so that we’d get what we want instantly. And if our wish wasn’t granted by the genie, we blame Him, we accuse Him of favoritism.

Every Sunday, we hear Mass out of fear that He’d deport us to hell if we’d absent ourselves. We complete a year of First Fridays so that a super special wish would be granted or we complete the annual Simbang Gabi so that one hectare of land in heaven would be assured of ownership by us. We memorize Saints’ names so that if we encounter a particular problem, we are sure that this Saint specializes on this and so we are assured of an easy fast solution.

But is God really the God we worship? A God who’d count the number of times you’ve cursed, who’d list down the number of your worship absences? Who’d give you something only if you’d go to his worship place? A God who wouldn’t welcome you to His place because you’ve forgotten to return a pen from your classmate? A God who watches you 24/7 and punishes you if you’ve forgotten to say a prayer for Him? If that is the kind of God God is, maybe He must be tired of checking and rechecking our lives, counting our mistakes, giving us punishes and rewards based on what we’ve done. If God is that kind of God, we should live inside special worship basilicas to solve all our problems in this world and never stop praying until He has given the ultimate package in our lives.

Maybe we’ve sticked too much of practices and tradition, forgetting the real essence of God. Sometimes we equate prayers to wishes recitation or God to a punishing God.  Don’t you think that we are so much fixated with our fear of the hot fires of hell? We have to please God so that He won’t reject us and let us rot in hell. There is a difference between doing something good for the glory of God and doing something good out of fear of the hot fires of hell.

We, human beings, seem to forget the real God. I don’t think that He is that punishing who’d only grant your wish only if you’d pray a million rosaries or join a novena murmur club every Sundays. I am not saying that we shouldn’t pray. Prayers aren’t like instant cup noodles. Still, there is beauty in waiting and prayers are beyond our wants.

Yes, God is a good God. But He is neither a genie nor a strict punishing God.
